HOW DO I NOT DREAD A FUTURE I DON’T WANT?

DEAR DALI MAMA:

I am a bit of a worrier and can get paranoid. I build and draw up worst-case scenarios in my head and over time they start to feel real. Then I live in partial dread of a future I don’t want.

Any advice you could please give?

—In My Head (Turkey)

DEAR I.M.H.:

This is something that happens to the best of us. Haha.

The facts that the worst-case scenarios start to feel real is indicative that you’re probably a very creative person. How about you use your awesome creative powers to draw up best-case scenarios over and over until they start to feel real and see what happens.

Much love.

HOW DO I STOP OVERSPENDING?

DEAR DALI MAMA:

I have a problem with my spending. I am in debt but cannot seem to stop. I buy things in stores and online that’s I don’t really need and even have multiples of (how many little black dresses does one girl need?) but I am reaching a critical point here. What can I do?

–Digging Myself a Big Hole (United States)

DEAR DIGGING:

You’re starting with the most important thing you can do—asking yourself what you can do!

First, take some time to think about why you’re buying things. What hole in your life are you trying to fill with stuff (physical stuff as well as the distraction and busy-ness of acquiring more things).

Intuitively, I believe you’re an extremely creative person. Are you using your creativity to do what you love (drawing, painting, knitting, sculpting, etc.) or are you diverting your creative energy into creating debt. Keep in mind that as much as you’re able to create debt, that’s how amazingly you can create something else when you direct your energy towards that.

Also, take some time to think about whether you’re distracting yourself from thinking about or looking at other areas in your life. Are you in a relationship that is draining you, for example? If so, are you trying to distract yourself from dealing with the issues in the relationship with shopping?

I applaud your courage in looking at this issue that affects many people. Congratulations on taking the first step towards creating prosperity in your life.

HOW DO I MOVE FORWARD WITH MY CREATIVE PROJECTS?

DEAR DALI MAMA:

I think I am a pretty creative person. I have a lot of great ideas for creative projects (books, movies, paintings, stuff around the house), but I never seem to get anywhere although I have a bunch of things I’ve started but not completed. How do I get to the next stage?

–Expert at Starting but not Finishing (United States)

DEAR EXPERT:

Well, the great thing is you have the most difficult piece covered—having a lot of creative ideas.

Maybe you could pick two small projects and finish them to give you a boost in confidence in your ability to complete them. Later, if you’re a person that fares better with multiple projects going on, you can have one small project and one longer-term project going on at the same time. And even with the larger project, you can break it into smaller, more manageable segments (like having a goal to finish three pages a day or a chapter a week).

Also, ground yourself (email holdinglightproductions@yahoo.com to request a free exercise on grounding) and ground your creative space as well (both the physical space you work in as well as the energetic space of each project).

Notice too any anxiety or fear that comes up as you imagine having all your projects complete and let all of those fears go.
